Arrangements for Meetings
What is happening with meetings?
An explanation of the arrangements can be found on our website.
In summary, the Council has returned to meetings in the Council Chamber but with significantly reduced capacity for public attendance at its offices due to covid restrictions on indoor gatherings.
Is there a way I can watch a meeting without going to the council offices?
Yes. The Council had agreed to broadcast on our website the following meetings: Planning Committee, Cabinet, Council, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Governance Committee and General Purposes Committee. A link to view these meetings live can be found on the web page for the agenda a couple of days prior to the meeting.
Can I watch a meeting after it has been broadcast?
No. The Council does not make recordings of any of its broadcast meetings.
Can I speak in person at meetings of the Planning Committee or Overview and Scrutiny Committee?
Yes. While public speaking will resume in person after 21 June 2021, there will be a number of covid safety measures in place in the Chamber including a maximum limit on the number of people allowed in the Council Chamber. We will require all persons, unless exempt, to wear a mask when in the Council Chamber. Members of the public who have successfully registered to speak will remove their mask when addressing the Planning Committee for the 3 minutes and then replace them afterwards. We would encourage all public speakers to leave the meeting after the conclusion of their item in order to free up space for other members of the public.
Please see the section on registering to speak for further details.
