Arrangements for Council Meetings

What is happening with meetings?

Following the end of the legislation that allowed for the council to hold remote online meetings we have returned to meeting in person in the Council Chamber.

Can the public attend these meetings?

Yes, with some restrictions. For safety we have been forced to significantly reduce the number of people that can be admitted into the Council Chamber. We can only admit a maximum of 8 members of the public into the Council Chamber in most cases with a limited number (between 8 - 16) of extra seats available in the nearby HMS Brave Room. Those people in the HMS Brave Room will be able to hear the meeting through speakers connected to the Council Chamber. When we have filled the small amount of public seating (on a first come, first served basis) for each meeting we will not be able to admit anyone else unless others leaving create the opportunity to do so. Entry to all meetings is via the Council Chamber main doors and doors will be opened 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. You will be asked for your contact details for Track and Trace purposes by a member of Dover District Council's staff.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Yes, you must wear a mask when attending a meeting unless you have an exemption. The Council can provide a mask for you if you do not have one.

Is there another way I can watch a council meeting?

Yes. The Council had agreed to broadcast on our website the following meetings: Planning Committee, Cabinet, Council, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Governance Committee and General Purposes Committee. A link to view these meetings live can be found on the web page for the agenda a couple of days prior to the meeting.

Can I watch a meeting after it has been broadcast?

No. The Council does not make recordings of any of its broadcast meetings.
