Age Concern Deal (Liaison Committee)

Description

The Deal Centre is situated in the heart of Deal town centre. It is a meeting place for all people, aged over 50, both active and frail. A registered charity and incorporated limited company, the Centre has developed from monies raised by the local community. The Centre aims to be a one-stop shop offering services, activities, information and support to promote active ageing in an age-friendly environment. A well-being hub for older people, the Centre is at the centre of the Deal community.

The Deal Centre is an autonomous organisation managed by a voluntary Board of Directors/Trustees and is currently partly funded from Social Services. The remainder is raised by fund-raising events, donations, legacies and charges for services. All internal charges are kept to a minimum.

The Deal Centre developed from an organisation, the Deal and District Old People Welfare Council, set up by local people in 1961. The main aim was to provide a venue in the town centre where people could come and meet for a few hours.
