Helen Williams is married with three adult daughters and four grandchildren. She started working in playgroups when her children were young, and later worked in NHS computing in Scotland, and as a lecturer and teacher.

She has volunteered for the Citizens Advice Bureau and is an advocate with Citizens Rights for Older People. She has been a parish councillor locally, and a school governor. She supports the Deal Area Food Bank and is a member of ‘Deal With It’. She is an active member of the Kingsdown Conservation Group and a volunteer with White Cliffs Countryside.

Leisure activities include walking, gardening, sea swimming locally (summer only) and playing the piano.
