The Industrial Communities Alliance is the local authority association campaigning on behalf of councils in the industrial areas of England, Scotland and Wales.
The aims of the Alliance are:
· To articulate the needs of Britain's industrial areas to a wide range of government, parliamentary and EU bodies.
· To attract resources to assist in the economic, social and environmental regeneration of these areas.
· To press for balanced growth within and between regions.
· To provide a framework for information sharing and collaborative working between member authorities.
The Industrial Communities Alliance brings together two long established local authority groupings - Coalfield Communities Campaign and Steel Action. It also includes former textile, shipbuilding and manufacturing areas.
Dover District Council’s representative is appointed to represent the views of the authority and is a voting member at National General Meetings of the Alliance.
